360Global Ambassadors
360Global Ambassadors connects classrooms in San Diego and Tema for a 4–6 week, teacher-guided exchange. Students share day-in-the-life stories and local sights, then meet on Zoom to compare perspectives. Through our partnership with SDYSCS’s 360-Connect, which develops VR field trips, classes co-create new routes by contributing local storylines, scene lists, and narration—and, where possible, capturing 360° or supporting footage.
What students do
- Create & swap short videos or photo stories about school life and local landmarks.
- Pen-pal prompts and live class calls (moderated).
- Produce 360-Connect VR field trips: storyboard scenes, suggest/film locations, write captions, and record narration or voiceovers.
- Reflect on similarities/differences and propose a simple joint project.
What teachers get
- Plug-and-play lesson plan (4–6 weeks), prompts, rubrics, and consent templates.
- Tech checklist and moderation support.
- Alignment tips (global competence, media literacy, SEL).
Outcomes
- Stronger global awareness & communication skills.
- Beginner-friendly media & presentation practice.
- Bridges to future exchanges (teacher visits, delegation hosting, internships).
About the 360-Connect partnership (SDYSCS)
Student-created and led. Launched during COVID by SDHS Japanese Club President Owen Miller with the San Diego–Yokohama Sister City Society, 360-Connect develops and curates VR field trips spanning San Diego’s 24 Sister City relationships in 23 countries. These immersive experiences support cultural preservation and global access—showcased with Vanguard Culture during World Design Capital events—and are expanding into new storytelling, including digital archives of African American & Chicano heritage in Logan Heights. 360Global classes help test and enrich these VR field trips with student perspectives.
How it works (quick flow)
- Enroll a class (San Diego or Tema) and confirm partner match.
- Week 1–2: Intros, safety/consent, first pen-pal exchange.
- Week 3: Student mini-videos + optional 360-Connect VR segment.
- Week 4–5: Live call + Q&A; joint mini-project.
- Week 6: Showcase, reflection, next-steps options.
Volunteers welcome: session hosts, translators, editors, and VR docents.
